Journal 1905 - Overview
Presented here are extracts from Virginia Woolf's 1905 journal, in particular entries for the month of August. During this month, Virginia travelled with her sister and brothers to Carbis Bay in Cornwall. This holiday trip placed her near St Ives, the location of Talland House, and brought recollections of earlier childhood visits to Cornwall.
This August trip to Cornwall, in just over twenty years time, would be recalled and reshaped into aspects of the novel 'To the Lighthouse'. As such, these entries have been included here as supporting material for the creation of the Initial Holograph Draft, which was written between 30th April and 25th May 1926.
